Rap hotshot Jay-Z has teamed up with Microsoft’s Bing search engine to advertise his forthcoming book “Decoded” which reveals the meanings behind his lyrics and the cultural forces that helped shape his life and music. A contest concerning "Decoded" has every page of the book placed in locations relevant to the contents of the page. This is a hip-hop scavenger hunt as diverse and in-depth as the man who put it together. Pages of the book will be located in the Brooklyn neighborhood where he grew up as well as places where he’s drawn encouragement, including London.
Pages won’t actually be hidden so much as unconventionally featured, such as in swimming pools, on pool tables, in clothes racks or on bronze plaques. Five to ten brand new pages have just been unveiled in 15 cities universally. As well as in virtual locations on the web in a gaming experience uncovered at Bing.com, Jay-Z Fans can use the site to find both the actual and virtual locations of the book pages.
